In January, Connah's Quay Nomads' Academy went completely digital by removing paper from their day-to-day operations.
I wrote a bespoke webapp to create two new systems to be used by the football club in the shape of an attendance register and also a performance managements system.
Attendance Register
The player attendance register is used on the coach's mobile phones, meaning that they remove the need for paper-based register's when recording which players have attended training sessions. Each day they can log a new register with each coach having access to their own age group, with the Academy's Director having overall access to see all of the reports. An attendance percentage is stored against each individual's profile, meaning it is easy to spot any regular non-attendees.
Performance Management
On top of the Attendance Register, I also wrote a bespoke Performance Management system which allows our Academy Coaches to enter a biannual report for any of their players. The report conists of a number of different categories and questions with a variety of answer options. Upon completion, the report is then emailed to the parent of the player - the player completes their own online assessment and can compare their own input with the feedback from their coach, with everything being tied together with the report also showing the player's attendance record.
January saw the first batch of player reports carried out on the system with over 140 reports completed which saw some great feedback being shared between players and coaches.
The concept of both systems can be applied to any sporting or educational setting with all of the relevant questions on the performance management side of the system completely customisable, meaning that they could be modified for each sport or class.
